CHIROPRACTIC TREATMENT:
Dr. William K. Haley
is a specialist in spinal musculoskeletal disorders. He is an expertly
trained and experienced Chiropractor, located on the outskirts of
Walnut Creek off Interstate 680, in Pleasant Hill, CA. Dr. Haley can
diagnose and treat the many musculoskeletal injuries that may occur on
the job or in your daily life.
Upon injury, the individual often alters the normal
position or flexibility of the spinal vertebrae. Chiropractic treatment
is designed to restore normal alignment and thus minimize pain and
suffering. Gentile manipulative therapy or “adjustment” is often
effective in rapidly returning the injured person to a productive
status. The doctor of chiropractic can also provide guidance with
advice designed to reduce work-related injuries, proper lifting
procedures and therapeutic stretching exercises.
By definition the
word Chiropractic (from Greek chiro- χειρο- "hand-" + praktikós
πρακτικός "concerned with action") is a complementary and alternative
medicine health care profession that focuses on diagnosis, treatment
and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system
and their effects on the nervous system and general health.
It emphasizes manual therapy including spinal
manipulation and other joint and soft-tissue manipulation, and includes
exercises and health and lifestyle counseling. Traditionally, it
assumes that a vertebral subluxation or spinal joint dysfunction can interfere with the body's function and its innate ability to heal itself.

MORE ON DEFINING CHIROPRACTIC
Chiropractic
is generally accepted today as a healing art, a science based on the
premise that optimal health depends, in part, upon the nervous system
functioning normally.
The
human spinal cord has 31 pairs of spinal nerves exiting the spinal
column. These “gentle” organs of the nervous system are encased in a
bony covering (the skull and spinal vertebrae). The spine provides
support and protection for these critical nerves. And if, for whatever
reason, protection is compromised interference may occur with the flow
of nerve impulses to the rest of the body.
When
body nerve impulses are uninterrupted, the organs and cells of the body
are usually able to function optimally. When there is interference with
the nerve impulses, whether it be too much or not enough nerve impulse,
the tissues or organs will not function properly and a degenerative
process begins most often predisposing the body to a distressful or
“disease state” and even headaches can manifest themselves as a result.
Chiropractic
maintains that the human body has an innate tendency to maintain a
state of good health. This inborn intelligence is at work in your body
constantly. The body has the ability to function and keep you well,
provided there is no interference. You are capable of maintaining
optimal health provided your body gets the essential ingredients and
nutrition, such as clean water and air, ample rest, and, you guessed
it, a nervous system that performs normally.
Chiropractic
teaches that health can be obtained and maintained if the natural
recuperative tendencies of the body are able to function unimpaired or
interrupted. Locating spinal misalignments, or subluxations,
early (no matter how minor) before they can interfere with the body’s
nervous system and produce adverse symptoms is the primary motivation
of regular chiropractic care.
Dr. William K. Haley at the Pleasant Hill Chiropractic Center
believes in non-invasive, drug free, health care therapy and does not
utilize drugs or surgery in his Pleasant Hill -Walnut Creek area
chiropractic practice. “Surgery or drugs should be a last resort
whenever possible when it comes to spinal health, but we do refer or
recommend our patients to other medical professionals when conditions
warrant such dramatic consideration,” says Dr. Haley.
