So
you have headache but what kind of headache do you have? Is it
recurring? There different types of headaches ...which one you have is
of great importance to remedy your pain and avoid future headaches.
There
are three main types of headaches to be concerned about, generaly
speaking, but if your headache is getting progressively worse and
accompanied by any of these symptoms: high fever, vomiting, throbbing,
blurry vision, or feeling confused-get medical help immediately. You
certainly don’t want to be experiencing either a stoke, brian hemorage
or damage or some other life threatening condition.
The three main type of headaches are Stress Headaches, Migraine Headaches, and Cluster Headaches:
Stress Headaches: Also
referred to as chronic daily headaches, these are muscle contraction
headaches are often described by people as a constant dull pain, achy
feeling on one or bot sides of the head. Sometimes around the head,
temples, forehead, or behind the eyes. This can come and go over a
period of time. What causes these types of headaches? Bad Posture which
can stress the spine and muscles in the upper back and neck. These
muscles are closest to the spine and at the base of the head. Stress at
the base of the head behind the nasal cavity and in the back of the
throat causes sinus headaches.
Subluxations
in the upper-back and neck are the common reasons why we get stress
headaches. A visit to an experienced Chiropractor can help adjust these
subluxations and give you relief from your stress headache. If your
under a lot of stress in your life, stress hormones can alter the level
of certain chemicals in the brain, which may contribute to headaches as
well.
Migraine Headaches: Your
muscles at the sides of your neck get excessively tense and a dull ache
develops into a constant, throbbing pain inside your head. You may be
feeling this pain at the temples, as well as the front or back of one
side of your head. The pain is usually accompanied by nausea and
vomiting, and sensitivity to light and noise.
What
is going on in my head? A constriction of the blood vessels in your
brain is followed by a dilation of blood vessels. This decrease and
increase in blood flow accounts for both visual and pounding headache
symptoms. Chiropractic care can help migraine headaches just as is help
stress headaches along with making some lifestyle changes.
Cluster Headaches: Cluster
headache is highly recognizable because it occurs in bouts
(clusters),one to four times per day over a period of several days and
usually at the same time every year. Although, in some case, it may
take years before they occur again. Usually it is felt on only one side
of the head and behind your eyes. Headache attacks last from 15 to 180
minutes and occur once every other day to up to 8 times daily. During
an attack, you may experience nasal congestion, runny nose, forehead
and facial sweating, dropping eyelids or eyelid swelling, restless or
agitated due to excruciating pain.
A good Chiropractic Maintenance Program can help in reducing cluster headaches.
